About Voices for Change Advocacy for Domestic Abuse UK

We are a trauma-informed community organisation supporting survivors of domestic abuse, coercive control and complex trauma through advocacy, education, healing and empowerment.

At the heart of our organisation is The Empowered Self Framework — a holistic 7-step recovery and empowerment model designed to support survivors in rebuilding identity beyond survival. Our framework recognises that coercive and psychological abuse impacts every part of a person’s wellbeing, including emotional safety, self-worth, confidence, autonomy, identity and connection to self.

Through our framework, we provide:

  • The Empowered Self Programme

  • Advocacy and support services

  • Healing and growth workshops

  • Online and face-to-face community spaces

  • Helpline and emotional support

  • Individual trauma-informed sessions

We believe healing is not only about leaving abuse. It is about rebuilding self, reclaiming voice and creating a future beyond survival.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve awareness, safeguarding, education and trauma-informed support surrounding domestic abuse and coercive control across the UK.

We are committed to:

  • Educating communities and public services on the hidden emotional and psychological impact of coercive control on both adults and children.

  • Promoting stronger trauma-informed safeguarding responses during domestic abuse incidents.

  • Advocating for improved support, signposting and compassionate responses during mental health crises and suicide-related incidents connected to abuse and trauma.

  • Encouraging trauma-informed assessments before long-term psychiatric pathways are considered for children and young people affected by abuse and adverse experiences.

  • Delivering holistic recovery pathways that support survivors in rebuilding identity, autonomy, emotional wellbeing and confidence.

  • Creating safe community spaces where survivors feel heard, supported and empowered beyond survival.

  • Educating children from an early age about healthy relationships, emotional safety, coercive control and domestic abuse in age-appropriate ways.

Voices for Change exists to raise awareness, create change and help survivors move from survival to self.
